<\/p>\nFrom July 19, 2019, the cost of registration of intellectual property (IP) rights in\u00a0Ukraine will increase three-fold on average.<\/p>\n
The changes were introduced by
\nthe Cabinet of Ministers Regulation No.\u00a0496 on June 12, 2019 (\u201cResolution
\n496\u201d).
\nIn particular, the new minimal fees for application for registration of IP rights
\nwill be:
\n\u2013 trade mark registration: \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 USD 173 (currently USD 43)
\n\u2013 industrial design registration: \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0USD 72 (currently USD 36)
\n\u2013 invention registration: \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0USD 302 (currently USD 151)
\n\u2013 utility model registration: \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0USD 113 (currently USD 38)<\/p>\n

Advice: file your application before the date of the increase<\/strong> Please note, however, that you will be only able to save on fees for filing of the application. \nNew fees come into force on July 19, 2019. Until this date, current fees apply.\u00a0Therefore, we recommend filing applications for registration of your IP rights\u00a0before this date. This will be particularly important for businesses that operate\u00a0with a large portfolio of trademarks or those who use advanced types of trademarks.
\nExample:<\/em>
\nIf you are going to file 10 applications in one class of goods (Nice classification), you may save about USD<\/em>\u00a01\u00a0132. The same amount will be saved for each additional class of goods, if you chose to apply for registration<\/em>\u00a0in more than one class of goods\/services.<\/em><\/p>\n
\nResolution 496 promotes the transition from paper application filing to electronic filing. For example, a\u00a0discount of 20% will be available for filing an application for a trademark\u2019s registration in electronic form.<\/p>\n
\nIt is planned that additional funds raised from this fee increase will be used to improve the work of the\u00a0existing online database of the Ukraine\u2019s IP rights authority.<\/p>\n
