Hillmont Partners secured compensation for a foreign investor for property damage caused by the unlawful actions of a Ukrainian licensed asset manager
Hillmont Partners has successfully defended the interests of a reputable UK investor in complex criminal proceedings in Ukraine.
The firm’s client had invested millions of dollars into a large commercial real estate development through a licensed Ukrainian asset manager. However, the asset manager failed to invest funds into construction works and sold the property to a third party for a fraction of its market value.
Hillmont Partners’ lawyers initiated criminal proceedings on the fact of embezzlement of funds of a non-resident investor by officials of the asset management company. With Hillmont’s legal assistance a number of investigative and procedural actions have been carried out and significant evidence of wrongdoing was uncovered. The above-mentioned actions resulted in securing compensation of more than USD 10 million for the client.
