Hillmont Partners advises on the sale of a prestigious Ukrainian fertility treatment clinic to a Finnish investor
Hillmont Partners has acted as a legal advisor in the sale of a majority stake in the Lviv-based Alternatyva Clinic and advised the client on entering a mutual strategic partnership with Ovumia Group, a fast-growing European chain of clinics offering fertility treatments.
Alternatyva Clinic is a prestigious and award-winning fertility treatment clinic based in Lviv, Western Ukraine. It offers in vitro fertilization treatments, maternity clinic services as well as gynaecological services and related day surgery. Originally from Finland, today Ovumia is the market leader in egg donation treatments in Northern Europe (Finland, Estonia, Sweden). It performs fertility treatments, coordinates the Finnish Egg Bank and acts as a centre of excellence for molecular reproductive biology and DNA diagnostics.
The partnership with Alternatyva will establish Ovumia in Ukraine and give Ovumia an excellent position to expand in the growing market of IVF and gynecology services in Ukraine. The collaboration will enable Ovumia Group to export its own IVF expertise to Ukraine and, in turn, gain new know-how through Alternatyva’s versatile gynaecological services. Ovumia will align Alternatyva’s infertility services in Ukraine with Nordic standards and regulations and control the processes for quality and transparency.
Lawyers of the Lviv office of Hillmont Partners have provided full legal support in relation to sale of the Ukrainian business to the international investor. They handled due diligence and project structuring, drafted all transactional documents and coordinated signing of the acquisition agreements.
